Forensic engineering analysis applied to flood control

چکیده
Floods have various impacts, including loss of life and damage to property. Flood- management reservoirs can help mitigate floods, but their operation also worsen flood impacts. This paper presents a novel forensic engineering approach assess the role reservoir on control. Fourteen criteria are employed for assessing forecast-based prereleases water from storage reduce impact flooding. The proposed is applied assessment system performance during large 2019 in southwestern Iran (the Great Karun Basin). two main study areas sub-basins Dez. Results concerning key peak discharge reduction (PDR) volume (FVR)) show PDR criterion sub-basin multi-reservoir reached about 79% (where 100% theoretically best performance) under historic operations (actual operating conditions 2019), improved 8 19% if prerelease were made. FVR achieved 33% historical situation 20 59% scenarios, respectively. 26% scenario, with better could exceed 55% Dez system, whereas was as low 11% be raised between 15 25% operations. work’s assessments establish that by applying specialized approaches.

متن کاملAn Overview of Genetic Algorithms Applied to Control Engineering Problems
Genetic Algorithms (GAs) are the most widely known evolutionary search algorithms. While they are regularly applied to control engineering problems, currently they are not a standard tool in the control engineer’s toolbox. This may in part be the result of the fact that few general overview of the application of GAs to control engineering problems yet exists, and the fact that they are usually ...
متن کاملGenetic Programming Applied to Predictive Control in Environmental Engineering
We introduce a new hybrid Genetic Programming (GP) based method for timeseries prediction in predictive control applications. Our method combines existing state-of-the-art analytical models from predictive control with a modern typed graph GP system. The main idea is to pre-structure the GP search space with existing analytical models to improve prediction accuracy. We apply our method to a dif...
متن کاملNonlinear Optimal Control Techniques Applied to a Launch Vehicle Autopilot
This paper presents an application of the nonlinear optimal control techniques to the design of launch vehicle autopilots. The optimal control is given by the solution to the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman (HJB) equation, which in this case cannot be solved explicity. A method based upon Successive Galerkin Approximation (SGA), is used to obtain an approximate optimal solution. Simulation results invo...
متن کاملCongestion Control Approaches Applied to Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are a specific category of wireless ad-hoc networks where their performance is highly affected by application, life time, storage capacity, processing power, topology changes, the communication medium and bandwidth. These limitations necessitate an effective data transport control in WSNs considering quality of service, energy efficiency, and congestion control. ...
